We have been learning to use personification, alliteration, similes, metaphors and idioms in our stories.
Personification-Personification gives human qualities to objects or ideas.Personification also allows the wrighter to refer to an object to him/her. eg: The bridge complained when a truck drove over it.
Alliteration-Alliteration is having the same letter or sound at the beginning of several words. eg: Lilly lion likes to lick lollypops on a lillypad.
Similes-A simile is a sentence that compares two things by saying they are similar using the words 'like or as'
eg: The swimming pool is as big as the ocean.
metaphor-Metaphors are like similes but they don't use the words like or as they compare two things by saying one is the other. eg: The television is a childs baby sitter.
idiom-An expression that can not be understood from the meanings of its separate words but that has a separate meaning of its own.
eg: Its a piece of cake.
